Equipment Requirements

To help ensure every player is prepared and safe on the field, each participant will need to provide the following equipment:

  • Athletic Shorts or Pants: Comfortable and suitable for running, jumping, and quick movements. For safety reasons, shorts and pants must not have packets.
  • Shin Guards: Every player must wear suitable shin guards, covered completely by socks, during every practice and game. Players without shin guards will not be permitted to play.
  • Suitable Footwear: Non-metal soccer cleats work best to provide better traction and prevent slipping. However, close-toed tennis shoes can be worn. Cleats not designed for soccer will not be permitted.

While we provide the team jersey and socks, these items are required to ensure every player is ready to play safely and effectively.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our program thrives thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteer coaches. We rely heavily on volunteers to keep our program running smoothly and our costs affordable for all families. Volunteering as a coach is a rewarding way to give back to the community, stay active, and positively impact young athletes' lives.

As a volunteer coach, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading practices and games
  • Teaching basic skills and strategies
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive team environment
  • Encouraging sportsmanship and teamwork

No prior coaching experience is necessary. If you are passionate about the sport and enjoy working with kids, we would love to have you join our coaching team. Your involvement helps keep registration fees low and ensures each player receives the attention and guidance they need to grow and enjoy the game.

Contact the Clinton City Recreation office if you're interested in coaching or want more information.

Refunds & Cancellations

We understand that plans can change, so here's what you need to know about getting a refund for our youth sports program. Full refunds are only given if we cancel a program, class, or event.

If you need to request a refund, you must do so during our business hours by contacting the Recreation Department. Please note that there is a $5 fee for all withdrawals. If you withdraw after registration has ended but before practices start, you'll receive a 50% refund minus the $5 fee. No refunds will be given once practices have started or after any class or event start date, even if you don't attend.

Approved refunds will be processed within ten business days of your withdrawal.

Sportsmanship Expectations

In our program, we strongly emphasize respect, kindness, leadership, positivity, and sportsmanship. We believe these values are essential for creating a supportive and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

Spectators: We expect spectators to cheer positively, respect all players, coaches, and officials, and set a good example of sportsmanship. Spectators' behavior on the sidelines is crucial in fostering a positive atmosphere.

Coaches: Coaches are role models for our players. We expect them to demonstrate respect, fairness, and encouragement. Coaches should foster a team spirit that values effort, learning, and improvement over winning.

Players: Players are encouraged to play hard, play fair, and support their teammates. Respecting opponents, officials, and the game itself is a key component of our program.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be notified of who my child's coach will be?

Once all coaches and players are assigned to a team, your coach will notify you about a week before the start date. Please contact our office if you haven't heard from your coach by then.

Can I request my child be on the same team as their friend?

We understand the desire for friends to play on the same team; however, we do not honor friend requests to help ensure balanced and fair team formation. The only way to guarantee that two children are placed on the same team is if their parents volunteer to coach together. We encourage parents interested in coaching to sign up and help create a fun, cohesive team environment for their children and their friends.

When and where are practices and games held?

Teams will practice and play according to the program schedule listed above. However, please note that all days are tentative and subject to change. Practices and games will primarily take place in Clinton City, but there may be occasions where we combine with neighboring cities for specific leagues, which could require travel to those locations. We will keep you informed of any changes as soon as possible. Once registration is complete and teams are assigned, the team schedule will be posted on QuickScores.

When does the season start and end?

The spring season is scheduled to begin the week of March 10 and run through May, while the fall season is scheduled to begin the week of July 28 and run through September. However, weather cancellations or other factors could push it back.

Does registration include both seasons?

Registration covers participation in one season only. Registration for the spring and fall seasons is separate, and each requires its own registration.
